Descriptions:
Takfly OPGW cable is the short form of Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire. OPGW cable is suitable for installation on new power lines with double function of ground wire and communication. Especially for installation on normal voltage and extra high voltage power lines. OPGW cable can replace conventional ground wire of old power line with increasing fiber communication function. OPGW cable conduct short circuit current and provide lightning resistance.

OPGW optical cable, also known as optical fiber composite overhead ground wire, is an overhead ground wire containing optical fibers. The optical fiber is placed in the ground wire of the overhead high-voltage transmission line to form an optical fiber communication network on the transmission line. It is mainly used for 500KV, 220KV , 110KV and communication lines for new overhead high-voltage transmission systems. The number of cores is 4-48, and there are aluminum tube type, aluminum frame type and (stainless) steel tube type structure.

Application:

>> outer OPGW is metal armoring, with no influence for high pressure electro-corrosion and degradation;

>> To construct OPGW must cut power, resulting in greater loss, thus OPGW must be used in constructing high voltage line over 110kv;

>> For OPGW performance index, the more short circuit current, the more need a good conductor to be metal armor, and reduce tension strength, while, if the tension strength is certain, to increase short circuit current capacity, the only way is to enlarge metal section area, resulting in an increased cable Dia and weight, so that security is a question for line pole strength.
